Adult Day Training Programs

Adult Day Training Programs (3 Sites)

The Arc Tampa Bay has three locations providing a multitude of day program services for adults, operating Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 2 PM.

Long Center in Clearwater (life Skills Development Level 3)

The largest day program site is located in the Long Center in Clearwater, FL. Through a partnership with Clearwater’s Parks and Recreation, The Arc Tampa Bay has access to the Long Center’s recreational facilities and has also participated in many activities offered through Clearwater’s Aging Well Program. The Long Center is operated by the City of Clearwater and is home to many other agencies and programs, facilitating inter-agency partnerships. The Long Center boasts an Olympic-sized pool, a heated training pool, basketball courts, and a gym and fitness center. There are also outdoor recreational facilities: football and soccer fields, hiking paths, outdoor tennis, basketball and racquetball courts, and a playground.

Personal, Social, and Community Supports (PSC): This program provides intensive staff support to help participants improve their daily living skills, fostering independence.  The individuals in the program need assistance to ambulate and with their hygiene. Individuals are encouraged to participate in activities to improve their communication, socialization, cognitive, and daily living skills. For people attending the PSC program, their circle of support may also include physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech–language pathologists.

Community Options: These classrooms are focused on increasing independence. Activities are designed to improve communication, socialization, daily living, and community involvement.

Habilitation Services: The Habilitation Centers are designed to promote work opportunities, using vocational endeavors as the primary therapeutic activity.

Tarpon Springs Day Program (Life Skills Development Level 3)

The Tarpon Springs day program location was established to address the lack of services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in north Pinellas County and south Pasco County. Previously, these individuals had to travel for 30 to 45 minutes to reach the day program location at the Long Center in Clearwater, FL. The Tarpon Day program is located near local attractions such as the Sponge Docks, historic downtown Tarpon Springs, and the aquarium, which provides numerous opportunities for community outings for the program attendees. In addition, the program offers a range of on-site activities such as computer classes, arts and crafts, exercise programs, etc. to enhance the daily offerings and provide additional therapeutic benefits.

Harborside Studios in Safety Harbor (Life Skills Development 3)

Located in Safety Harbor’s vibrant art community, this charming art studio welcomes individuals who enjoy exploring their creative side. With a variety of fun mediums, instructors teach their students painting, drawing, mixed media, and collaborative art projects. Harborside Studios is ideally situated in the downtown area and participates in Safety Harbor’s Third Friday events, providing artists with more exposure and the opportunity to sell their creations. Besides being a leisure pursuit, artists are compensated for the sale of their artwork.
